Camp Anime

Camp Anime is a one-week program of anime-related activities for the young anime fan, 11 - 16 years old.

Anime is Japanese animation. This recognizable style of drawing is also used in cartoons and comics, known in Japanese as manga. Camp Anime offers instruction in the martial arts, Japanese language and culture and in drawing manga, as well as generous time for open-ended role-playing.

Activities

Camp Anime features a daily screening of age-appropriate Japanese anime such as Spirited Away. The daily Japanese class will use elements of the film in order to teach vocabulary, grammar, and culture. Two days of the week will include Japanese calligraphy. Campers will also receive daily instruction in drawing manga, Japanese comic characters and stories. The daily schedule includes a Japanese-inspired craft, as well as supervised role-playing games.

What you need to know

Camp Anime is held at our Grace United facility, inside Grace United Church, 1245 Heights Blvd in the Heights, from 1 to 6 p.m. The entrance to the building is located on 13^th Street between Heights Blvd and Yale, through the gate of the wrought iron fence. Click here for a map.

Campers should wear comfortable clothing. Healthy snacks will be provided.

Fees & Registration

Fees are $300, supplies included. Tuition is due in full at time of registration.

Space is extremely limited. Class size is limited to 15 students. Early registration is highly recommended.

Camp fees are non-refundable.
